WHEATLAND, IOWA (WQAD/CNN) – While some teenagers may take the process for granted, an Iowa woman has been waiting a very long time to graduate from high school.
Pearl Russ finally got her diploma on Thursday, at the age of 101 years old. She said it was her dream came true.
"In those years, we just didn't do those things," said Russ. "We couldn't, because the wages wasn't there, and my dad didn't get that much money."
Only making it to the eighth grade, Russ never thought it would happen.
Russ was presented with an honorary diploma from Calamus Wheatland High School on Thursday, and said she was the class valedictorian.
She is living proof that it's never too late to make your dreams a reality.
"It's never too late to go do what you want to do, to find your goal and your drive in life," said Russ.
