NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A heavily-trafficked bridge in North Charleston has been closed and will remain so for a year.
The Rivers Avenue-King Street Extension Bridge, built in the early 1920s, was closed Monday and will be demolished over the next few weeks.
The bridge crosses over Meeting Street and several railroad tracks. Traffic will be rerouted on Meeting Street, Rivers Avenue and King Street Extension.
The project is expected to be completed next July. Motorists are asked to use caution in the area until then.
