NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Trident Health in North Charleston has announced plans to expand Trident Cancer Center by 3,500-square-feet to make room for new state-of-the-art cancer fighting technology.
The $6.1 million project calls for a renovation of the current facility in addition to the Cancer Center's expansion. The project will begin in the fall.
Included in the project design is the addition of Charleston's first Trubeam Linear Accelerator, a state-of-the-art radiotherapy cancer treatment machine. This new technology will decrease treatment times by almost half while proving more effective, according to a release from the hospital.
"Having all of this new technology available in one area will provide easy access to advanced cancer treatment services for our patients," said Ryan Clements, Trident Cancer Center Director.
The project also includes upgrades to treatment planning software and aesthetic improvements.
