Facebook announced Wednesday that they have introduced the use of hashtags in posts.
According to Facebook, the hashtags will be clickable. Like Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest, hashtags on Facebook will allow you to "add context to a post or indicate that it is part of a larger discussion."
When you click on a hashtag in Facebook, you will be able to see a feed of what other people and fan pages are saying about the event or topic.
Now you can search for a specific hashtag from your search bar. You can click on hashtags that originate on other services, such as Instagram. You can also compose a post directly from the hashtag feed and search results.
When you click on a hashtag, you will see a feed of posts that have been shared with you with others who are using the hashtag.
You are still able to control the audience for your posts, including those with hashtags. When you search for topics using hashtags, you will only be able to see the topic on public Facebook pages or if the person made the post public.
According to Facebook, this is the first in a series of features that will allow you a way to see a larger view of what is happening or what people are talking about. Until now, there has not been a simple way to do that on Facebook.
