NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 20-year-old man wanted for a North Charleston shooting surrendered to authorities Monday afternoon, police say.
According to a North Charleston Police Department report, Lavar Clinton met with police and US Marshals and was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Investigators say Clinton fired two gunshots at a large group of people standing outside an apartment at 1944 Burton Lane on around 11:30 p.m. on May 11. One of the bullets struck a woman inside the apartment in the face, according to the report.
She was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment.
Clinton is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center under a $550,000 bond on the North Charleston charges.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has also charged him with armed robbery in connection with an unknown incident. We've reached out to authorities for more information.
