CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 60-year-old man told officers he was "looking for change" when he was caught climbing out of a parked car that did not belong to him early Monday morning, police say.

Willie Gadson was arrested by Charleston police and charged with breaking into a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $10,000.

According to an incident report, an officer saw Gadson climb out of a 2013 Ford Fusion parked along Cannon Street in downtown Charleston around 2:30 a.m. The reporting officer said he knew Gadson from previous encounters, and knew he did not own a car.

The report states Gadson admitted he did not own the car and told police he "was looking for change".

Officers say the car did not show signs of forced entry, and must have been left unlocked.

Police say the owner of the car way contacted, and after looking through his vehicle, reported nothing was missing.

Gadson is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
