Sheriff: Man struck, killed by highway patrol trooper in Beaufort Co.

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities say a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper struck and killed a man walking in Beaufort County early Wednesday.

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, the victim was walking down Highway 21 south in Seabrook when he was struck by the cruiser a little before 5 a.m.

The road was closed for about two and a half hours while authorities investigated the incident.

The trooper driving the cruiser has not been identified yet.  Neither has the victim.
