JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

A Johns Island man facing child pornography charges after deputies and Homeland Security investigators searched his home Thursday is a convicted sex offender.

According to Major Jim Brady with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, deputies and Homeland Security agents searched 3893 Mary Ann Point Road around 8 a.m. and arrested the resident, 41-year-old Horace Crosby.

Crosby is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Crosby is listed as an Adult Tier III Offender on the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry for two charges of committing or attempting a lewd act on a child under 16, once in 1990 and again in 1996. The victims were a 6-year-old male and a 6-year-old female, according to the registry.

Court affidavits state an investigation revealed Crosby was using file sharing software to download child pornography, where he then made copies for himself. He would then share the images with others via his computer.

A search of Crosby's computer uncovered four photos of prepubescent females engaging in sexual activity with adults.

Crosby is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center. His bond was set at $25,000 for each charge.
