Augusta State's Maverick James Antcliff and Arizona State's Spencer Lawson each shot -4 68's on Thursday to take a 1 shot lead after the first round of the 41st annual Rice Planters Amateur at Snee Farm Country Club.
Thursday's round became the 1st round after Wednesday's play was washed out due to rain. The tournament was shortened from 72 to 54 holes so it will still end on Saturday.
Nine golfers are 1 shot back including College of Charleston's Zach Munroe.
The last 2 champions of the Rice Planters are back this year as well. Clemson's Thomas Bradshaw, who set a tournament record for the lowest score, shot a 72 on Thursday and is 4 shots back. 2011 winner and Pinewood Prep alum Austin Cody is 3 shots back after a 1st round 71.
