SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities have arrested three area men accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman in Surfside Beach.

The Surfside Beach Police Department charged 30-year-old James Wesley Stars Jr. of North Charleston, 28-year-old Timothy Starks of St. Stephen and 28-year-old Sherwood Edward of Ladson with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and strong armed robbery.

James and Timothy Starks are each being held on a $45,000 bond, and Johnson is being held on a $60,000 bond.

On Saturday at 3:38 a.m., officers responded to a convenience store where a female victim said she was assaulted.

The woman said she met the three suspects at a club in Myrtle Beach, and asked them for a ride home from the club.

A police report states the suspects drove the victim against her will to a location within Surfside Beach where the assault and robbery happened.

According to investigators, the suspects fled the area and took the victim's purse and personal belongings.

The suspects and their vehicle was located during a traffic stop in Georgetown by Georgetown police and the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.
