CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County leaders are making sure they're ready in case a hurricane threatens the South Carolina coast.
Officials took part in a drill Wednesday at the Emergency Operations Center that simulated evacuations and major storm damage.
This year's exercise was the first at the new EOC facility, which officials say is much bigger than their previous building.
"We are able to have everyone that has a function in the operations center to be actually within the operations center," said Cathy Haynes, Chief of Operations at the facility. "In the previous center, we were not able to have everyone with us in one room."
The new building has state-of-the-art technology and response systems.
Officials say Wednesday's drill was a success.
