Report: Detective injured after drug dealer rams car during drug bust

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says a detective was injured after a suspected drug dealer rammed a car during an undercover operation in McClellanville.

Investigators arrested 31-year-old Antonio Myers on Thursday.

Myers faces charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance near a school, trafficking of marijuana and malicious injury to property.

Authorities say Myers' arrest stems from an undercover operation where he accepted two packages containing a total 33 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $54,900.

According to investigators, after Myers took the packages and put it in his car, law enforcement attempted to stop him.

An affidavit states when Myers saw authorities coming to his vehicle, he backed into a sheriff's office vehicle injuring a detective inside.

The detective received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
