Cops: Downtown houseguest steals guns & 2,500 rounds of ammo

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Ladson woman is accused of stealing several guns and 2,500 rounds of ammunition from a friend's home in downtown.

The Charleston Police Department arrested 31-year-old Jessica Lynn Metzer on Thursday and charged her with grand larceny.

On Monday, police responded to a home on Peele Place in reference to a theft. The victim said a houseguest had stolen several items from him over the weekend.

According to the victim, it all started when Metzer asked to stay with him until she found a stable home. The victim said after returning one weekend, he found a letter by Metzer which stated that she was leaving the house because of some papers she found in his office about her.

An incident report states when the victim entered his office he discovered four guns and more than 2,500 rounds of ammunition were missing.

Police say also missing were several pieces of clothing, an iPod, ammo magazines and a scope.

The victim told police he contacted Metzer who said she did not have any of the items.

A police report states the victim then contacted mutual friends he had with Metzer who said the suspect was staying at a motel in Summerville.

Authorities were then called to the motel where Metzer was located and arrested.
