NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A man died Sunday and a child remains in critical condition after a minivan collidied with a pickup and a SUV on Ashley Phosphate Road, authorities say.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 40-year-old Daniel Gonzalez Jose, who lived in North Charleston but hailed from Mexico.
According to North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor, Jose was pulling out of a lot at 2811 Ashley Phosphate Road around 3:30 p.m. in his minivan when he collided with a Ford pickup and a Dodge Durango.
Jose was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck and a juvenile in the van was hospitalized for life-threatening injuries.
Two people inside the pickup were hospitalized, while the motorist in the SUV suffered no injuries.
The wreck is still under investigation. No charges have been filed.
