CCSD appoints two new principals

The Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced the hiring of two principals on Monday.

Eric Hansen was appointed Principal of North Charleston Creative Arts Elementary School and Catherine Middleton was appointed Principal of Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary School, according to a release from the district spokesman, Jason Sakran.

Mr. Hanson was previously the Assistant Principal at Pepperhill Elementary School and has over 17 years of experience in the field of education, 15 years in District 5 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. While at Pepperhill Elementary, Mr. Hanson prepared and led staff development sessions, chaired, organized and revised the school (Response to Intervention) program and acted as PASS coordinator and administrator. Mr. Hanson has a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Converse College.

Mrs. Middleton was previously the Interim Principal at North Charleston Creative Arts Elementary School and has over 30 years of experience in the field of education, 13 years at Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary. Mrs. Middleton was a CCSD Teacher of the Year finalist in 1993. She is also an adjunct professor at the Citadel, the College of Charleston and Charleston Southern and is a SC Arts Alliance Member.
