JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Joint Base Charleston will welcome a special guest next week, as the United States Secretary of Defense stops by the base for a tour.
Secretary Chuck Hagel will tour Joint Base Charleston Wednesday, July 17. His stop in Charleston is part of a three-day air base trip.
While on his tour at Joint Base, Hagel will watch flying and support operations demonstrations and take a look at the C-17A Engine Test/Repair Center.
The Secretary will then host a town hall meeting with service members, families, Department of Defense civilian employees, and local civic leaders to hear from those who are directly impacted by federal budget cuts.
Hagel will arrive in Charleston Tuesday evening after taking a tour of Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida.
