Home invasion suspects tied to Georgetown murder

GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Two men charged for a home invasion in Georgetown last August have been tied to a murder investigators say happened on the same night.

According to the Georgetown Police Department, 19-year-old Anthony Lamar Fraser and 19-year-old Damonte Marquez Rivera murdered 25-year-old Alphonso Terrell Thomas early Aug. 30.

Thomas' body was found along a dirt path between West Church Street and Legion Street.

Earlier that night, police say Fraser, Rivera, and two unidentified suspects broke into a home at 622 Kaminski Street while the homeowner was sleeping. Officials say the suspects demanded money from the victim at gunpoint. After taking $30, three cell phones and two sets of keys, the suspects left the house.

Fraser and Rivera were arrested last September and charged with kidnapping, burglary first degree, armed robbery and robbery while armed with a deadly weapon. Rivera was also charged with two counts of assault and battery third degree.

Now both men are also facing a charge of first-degree murder. Fraser is being held in the Florence County Detention Center and Rivera is being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center.
