MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Myrtle Beach is holding what it hopes is a record-setting a summer party to mark its 75th birthday.
The party scheduled for Saturday on Ocean Boulevard features an attempt to build the world's largest birthday cake made out of cupcakes.
Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne of the television series "DC Cupcakes" are building a pyramid of 7,500 cupcakes to make a birthday cake.
But it won't last for long. Those attending the party can eat the treats beginning at 7 p.m.
The party will also be a treat for beach music fans with performances by The Catalinas, the Original Drifters and the Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards.
The event also marks the 75th anniversary of the local chamber of commerce.
