Police officer injured after rescuing 2 from Hanahan duplex fire

HANAHAN, SC (WCSC) - The Hanahan Police Department says a police officer was injured after he rescued two people from a duplex fire in Hanahan on Friday.

According to the Hanahan Fire Department, crews responded to the fire on Berkeley Street around 11:30 p.m. to find a duplex covered in flames.

Several people and some animals were rescued from the home.  Three cats died in the fire.

A police officer, who rescued two people, and a firefighter injured in the blaze were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Three cats died.
