DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester District 2 has renewed its contract with Durham School Services, the company which provides transportation for its students.
The DD2 board voted Tuesday to renew its year-long contract with the bus company.
District spokesperson Pat Raynor said the board approved the contract based on a few details the company must address. One such concern is to make sure safety equipment such as cameras are installed on all buses, and to make sure bus driver training is provided and documented.
Earlier this year, some Durham drivers represented by the Teamster Local 509 union threatened to strike after voicing their concerns over safety and working conditions.
Drivers also expressed dismay over their pay and benefits.
