WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) -

A 22-year-old man is accused of stealing nearly $200 worth of merchandise from a Target where he was formerly employed.

The Charleston Police Department arrested Johnathan Evans of West Ashley Wednesday night and charged him with breach of trust.

Evans' arrest stems from an incident on July 11 when police responded to the Target on 2070 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in reference to an employee stealing merchandise.

A store loss prevention officer told police that Evans had been stealing items from the store since April.

According to investigators, store documentation cited 10 incidents where Evans intentionally failed to charge customers for the full value of items, or improperly used "Team Member Discount Cards" when purchasing his own items.

A signed admission statement by Evans was given to the officer which stated that Evans admitted to stealing merchandise from the store totaling $183.16.
