Fire damages several units at Summerville apartment complex

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

Emergency crews have put out a fire that damaged several apartments in Summerville on Thursday. 

The Summerville Fire Department says the fire happened at the Somerset apartments on 1225 Boone Hill Road.

Authorities say they were called out around 11:30 a.m., and it took an hour to take the fire out. The American Red Cross has also responded to the scene.

Chief Richard Waring said two apartments were damaged by the fire with several units suffering from smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
