CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A group of ladies driving motorcycles from South Carolina to California to help raise money for wounded veterans ran into some trouble in Texas Thursday night, as a trailer carrying one of the bikes was stolen.

The Lady Freedom Riders took off from Charleston last week to make their way to San Diego. While stopped a Motel 6 in Amarillo, Texas, the event organizers bike trailer and motorcycle trailer was stolen.

After making the long motorcycle drive to San Diego, the Riders planned to use the trailer to haul their bikes back home.

The group plans to continue their ride, with the event organizer making the rest of the journey in her truck.

Money raised through the ride will go towards the Independence Fund, which supports wounded veterans.
