NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP/WCSC) - Two ceremonies were held Saturday in Spartanburg and Charleston to honor South Carolina veterans of the Korean War.
South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott said Saturday's events are a way to recognize the bravery of the men and women who fought for their country and give them the credit they deserve.
Former prisoner of war Bill Funchess of Clemson spoke at the ceremony in Spartanburg at the University of South Carolina-Upstate Readiness Center.
Retired Army Gen. Ernest Brockman of Charleston spoke at the Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston Saturday afternoon.
At both events, Scott said veterans and family members of deceased veterans are receiving special certificates of appreciation.
