Coroner identifies man killed in Hwy 61 wreck

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed in a single-vehicle wreck on Highway 61 near Magnolia Plantation early Sunday.

The coroner's office said 45-year-old West Ashley man Grady Garris II died at the scene.

Charleston County sheriff's deputies responded to the wreck around 3 a.m. to find a 2001 BMW had struck a tree and overturned.  Garris was found dead inside the vehicle.

The wreck is under investigation.

It's the second fatal wreck along the same stretch of Highway 61 this week.  Dwight Ives, 59, of Summerville, died early Tuesday after deputies say his moped was rear-ended by a SUV driven by 43-year-old Sidney Son Jr.  Son was charged with felony DUI for the incident.
