BLUFFTON, SC (WCSC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says authorities are investigating an armed robbery of a Subway restaurant that occurred this weekend.
At 10 p.m. on Friday, deputies say they responded to the Subway on Fording Island Road after the restaurant had been robbed by an armed man.
According to two employees and one customer, the suspect ordered everybody to get down after running through the store's front door and jumping over the counter.
Witnesses say the suspect did not actually reveal a weapon, but he did keep one of his hands under his shirt, giving the illusion that he was holding a concealed gun.
The suspect, who is described as a light-skinned black male between 18-20 years of age, stole money from a cash drawer before exiting through the back door, the police report says.
The suspect's identity is currently unknown, but the investigation is ongoing.
