CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Board of Elections and Voter Registration has released information to residents on the upcoming South Carolina State Senate District 42 special election.
There will be no Republican primary election because there is only one Republican candidate, but the Democratic primary election will be held on Aug. 13.
If needed, the Democratic runoff election will be held on Aug. 27.
The general election for District 42 is scheduled to be held on Oct. 1 and the deadline to register to vote is Aug. 31.
Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election days.
If you are a registered voter who cannot vote in person, you may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballots may be obtained from the Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office in Charleston County, located at 4367 Headquarters Road in North Charleston.
