Last day for back-to-school free shoe giveaway sign-up

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Parents have only one day left to sign up for the 13th Annual African American Committee Free Back-to-School Shoe Giveaway.

Parents have to sign up for their children to be eligible for the free shoes by Tuesday, July 30th.

It's for students in Pre-K all the way to 12th grade. Shreveport 3rd District Representative Barbara Norton is heading the giveaway. "Because we know that there are many people because of our economy are not able to buy those shoes for their children to return back to school. We just want to make sure we're reaching out to bring a smile to those children's faces," says Norton.

The sign up for the shoe giveaway will be held at the local County Market Stores on Tuesday, July 30th at the North Market Location on 1867 Nelson Street from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Please bring proof of government assistance.

The shoe giveaway will be held on Saturday, August 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Wal-Mart located at 6235 West Port Avenue off Pines Road.
