Have a medical emergency? Don’t take yourself to the hospital!

An ambulance is a mobile ER. An ambulance is a mobile ER.
PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

More and more people are avoiding calling 911 during medical emergencies and driving to the hospitals themselves, but officials say that's the last thing they should do.

EMT paramedics are just as trained and capable when it comes to emergencies as the local hospital. Think of an ambulance as an ER on wheels. Everything inside is designed to save lives.

EMTs are often able to quickly arrive on scene and diagnose the emergency and bypass the emergency room, getting you to a doctor faster.

"We have a number of people that show up on scene…getting a bunch of hands on people right away," said John Seiverth, assistant chief with Perrysburg Fire and Rescue.

Paramedics want to remind everyone that every second counts during an emergency, and getting in your car to drive to the hospital is the last thing you ever want to do during a medical emergency.
