School supply drive ongoing for Charleston students

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Collection bins are open throughout the Lowcountry for school supplies that will donated to students who attend the First Day Festival on August 18.

The First Day Festival provides children and their parents with a bag of free school supplies to help their new school year get off to a great start. The School Supply Drive is currently underway, and donations are needed.

The following school supplies are needed: pencils, rulers, pens, colored pencils, hand sanitizer, wide-ruled composition books, tissues, two-pocket folders, scissors, markers, erasers, crayons, and glue.

Donations will be accepted at the following First Day Festival collection bin locations:

City of Charleston Recreation Facilities:

  • Bees Ferry Landing - 1509 Ashley Gardens Blvd.
  • James Island Recreation Complex - 1088 Quail Drive
  • Charleston Tennis Center - 19 Farmfield Avenue
  • Daniel Island Recreation Facility - 235 Seven Farms Drive
City of Charleston Fire Stations:
  • 1 Nicholson Drive - West Ashley
  • 46 1/2 Wentworth Street - downtown
Additional locations include:
  • Charleston County School District Building - 75 Calhoun Street
  • Charleston County Government Building - 4045 Bridge View Drive
  • Trask and Howell, LLC - 763 Johnnie Dodds Blvd.
