CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials say crews have secured a Thursday morning gas leak in downtown Charleston and upper King Street has been reopened.
According to Charleston Fire Battalion Chief Mike Julazadeh, crews working outside Super Bad Men's Clothing, located at 532 King Street, reported smelling a gas odor around 11 a.m.
Both the fire department and Charleston police were called to the scene to investigate. Traffic was closed between Mary Street and Cannon Street. Adjacent buildings were also evacuated, Julazadeh said.
SCE&G crews arrived a short time later and fixed the leak.
