Man rescued after crashing boat in Charleston Harbor

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - United States Coast Guard Charleston Sector says one person was rescued Friday morning after his boat crashed in the Charleston Harbor.

According to Lt. Christi Nadler, a 21-foot center-console struck the south side of the south jetty in Charleston Harbor just before 9 a.m. The collision caused the boat to take on water and capsize.

Only one person was on board, officials say.

Charleston County Sheriff's Office rescued the boater, who suffered minor injuries in the accident, Nadler says. He is being transported to the city marina where an EMS is waiting.

Nadler says the boat is still in the water, and the owner has arranged for commercial salvage.
