BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County residents showed their support for students Saturday by packing three buses with donated school supplies.
The annual "Stuff the Bus" Community Rally Day took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Summerville, Goose Creek, and Moncks Corner Walmarts. Donated school supplies will be given to Berkeley County School District students who are preparing for the upcoming school year.
Amy Covach, Director of Communications and Community Relations for BCSD, says the event is very important as their are a number of parents in the community who are struggling financially.
"We don't want any child to feel they have to come to school not prepared," says Covach. "So we want to be ready for them with supplies."
The Stuff the Bus campaign will wrap up with a final event on August 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the same Walmarts.
