SC State continued fall football workouts Monday with a long and spirited session. The workout was the third preseason practice and first in shoulder pads for the Bulldogs. Coach Buddy Pough's team continued to emphasize fundamentals and also worked on some team-style drills.
Pough said that his team was lively at times and excited about being out there, while getting a great deal of work on special teams. He noted he saw some players working hard trying to be better.
The Bulldogs main focus during the early morning session was improving on fundamentals along with implementing more team style drills in on offense and defense.
"We got off to a great start today and believe it or not the intensity level was probably the highest I have seen," said Pough. "One of the reasons is that we are pushing and driving these players harder than they ever been before. We will countine to drive and be as tough on them as we possibly can."
"For the most part we are still in
the installation stages, so we still have a long way to go. We will keep
working at things to develop an idea of what we can possibly be."
SC State returns to the practice field Tuesday at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday's workout will also be in shorts, shoulder pads and helmets.
