Coroner identifies worker struck, killed in Williamsburg Co.

Posted: Updated:
WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

The Williamsburg County Coroner's Office has identified the construction worker who died Monday after being hit by a truck.

Officials say 22-year-old Kenneth Long, of Andrews, died at the Medical University of South Carolina on Monday afternoon shortly after South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say he was struck just before 3 p.m. on Highway 41.

Troopers said a woman was stopped in a construction zone when the driver of a pickup hit her from behind, and then continued on and struck Long, who was working as a "flagman" on the roadway.

The truck driver was not hurt, and the driver of the car was taken to the Williamsburg County Regional Hospital.

Troopers say charges are pending.
