COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Colleton County sheriff's deputies say they have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected in the murder of a 23-year-old woman.

Investigators arrested Dashawn Trevell Brown, of Walterboro, wanted for murder and attempted murder in connection to a shooting last month at the Starlight Lounge in St. George where Sierra Truesdale, an innocent bystander, was killed.

Brown was profiled on Live 5 News Most Wanted last week.

At 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the sheriff's office, SWAT and the US Marshal's Service attempted to take Brown into custody at a home near Walterboro. When law enforcement arrived and surrounded the home, people came out of the residence and told authorities that Brown was inside.

Authorities say after Brown refused to come out voluntarily, a search warrant was obtained, and investigators found Brown hiding in a back bedroom between mattresses.

"I am proud that law enforcement agencies worked together to take such a fugitive charged with murder into custody, especially after observing how our Sheriff's Office SWAT team methodically performed to bring this incident to a peaceful end.  In what could have been a violent situation, their many hours of training paid off and no one was injured.  I am confident that they could have handled any threat they may have encountered," said Sheriff R.A. Strickland.

Deputies say on July 14, Brown, a reputed member of the violent "Cowboys" gang in Colleton County, fired a number of shots, wounding two and killing Truesdale.  Another man, 23-year-old Ikeal Emar Dacus, of Reevesville, was also charged with murder for the shooting.

Just before the shooting, a witness at the club said the Cowboys put American flag bandanas over their faces and walked outside and started firing off rounds.

Investigators say Truesdale was celebrating her birthday at the club that evening, and was ducking behind a vehicle when she was caught in the crossfire.

She later died en route to the hospital.
