NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities rescued four people who were trapped in an overturned vehicle on Cosgrove Avenue headed into North Charleston on Wednesday morning.

According to Charleston County Rescue Squad Public Information Officer Trae Wright, the wreck happened on Cosgrove Avenue near Azalea Drive a little after 9 a.m., near the Interstate 26 overpass.

Crews worked on scene for about 40 minutes before freeing the occupants of the vehicle, who were turned over to EMS and taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment.

All lanes were reopened around 10:45 a.m.

Wright said rescue crews were joined by North Charleston and Charleston firefighters.  A photo from the scene shows North Charleston police cruisers responded as well.
