BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A fiery wreck in Berkeley County left a St. Stephen man dead and sent another person to the hospital on Thursday night, troopers say.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said the wreck happened on Mudville Road near Highway 176 around 9:40 p.m., when 34-year-old Quincy President was driving a Crown Victoria, crossed the center line, and spun sideways before striking a Ford pickup.

Troopers said after striking the pickup, President’s car continued into a ditch and caught fire.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said President died from “100 % thermal burns.”

The driver of the pickup only suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The accident is still under investigation.
