Lowcountry native Shelby Rogers was honored by the city of Charleston on Saturday with the mayor's office announcing it was Shelby Rogers Day during the 7th annual Tennis Block Party at the Family Circle Tennis center on Daniel Island.
Rogers was back home for just a couple of days before she heads off to New York to take part in this year's US Open.
The local tennis star took time to sign autographs for fans and also showed off some of her skills during the course of the event.
"It's very cool, I endorse it 100%. I love this city and I couldn't be happier" Rogers said.
The US Open will be Rogers 2nd major of the year. She took part in the French Open back in the Spring and won her first Grand Slam match in Paris before being eliminated in the 2nd round.
