MUSC to break ground on Summerville Children's After Hours facility

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

The Medical University of South Carolina will break ground Thursday on a building that will provide emergency after hour care to children in Summerville.

The Summerville MUSC Children's After Hours Care ground-breaking ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at 4330 Ladson Road.

Special guests scheduled to attend the ceremony include Senator Paul Campbell, Summerville mayor Bill Collins, and MUSC Children's Hospital Administrator John Sanders.

According to Meredith Strehle with MUSC, the After Hours Care facility will provide care for pediatric patients when their pediatricians office may be closed, including during nights, weekends and holidays.

The building will also have specialty clinics for morning hours. Appointments are not required.

MUSC currently offers Children's After Hours Care facilities in North Charleston and Mt. Pleasant.
