State senator voted new executive director of Charleston airport

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - State Sen. Paul Campbell is the new executive director of the Charleston International Airport.

The vote Thursday morning was 8 to 5 to confirm him.

Those voting against him wanted to conduct a search for a new director, and some are also concerned it would be difficult to hold two jobs at once.

So far, Sen. Campbell, who represents Berkeley County in the state senate, says he can handle serving in the legislature and directing the airport at the same time.
