Bond set at $50k for suspected James Island burglar

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

A suspected burglar made an appearance before a judge Saturday morning after police say he was involved with burglarizing a home on James Island.

Police say a tip from a citizen led to the arrest of a suspected James Island burglar.

The Charleston Police Department charged 25-year-old Brandon Tyrene Johnson with first-degree burglary. Authorities say Johnson's arrest stems from an incident on Aug. 8 when a Sage Bird View home was burglarized.

Police say Johnson's arrest is the result of a joint investigation with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office into recent residential burglaries on James Island and West Ashley.

Johnson's bond was set at $50,000 for first-degree burglary.

CPD officials say the State Law Enforcement Division and the U.S. Marshals assisted in the investigation.

Authorities are continuing the investigation into the residential burglaries and car break-ins.
