Cops: Kids onboard as mother uses car to ram SUV several times

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A 25-year-old Summerville woman is behind bars after police say she used her car, in which two of her children were passengers, to ram an SUV several times.

The Charleston Police Department charged Iasia Nathaniel with second-degree assault and battery, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and two counts of ill treatment of a child.

On Tuesday morning, officers responded to the area of 1843 Tobias Gadson Blvd. in reference to a three-car accident caused by road rage. A witness told officers that he saw two cars engage in multiple rear-end collisions before causing a major accident on Paul Cantrell Boulevard.

According to the witness, he saw Nathaniel use her car to rear-end an SUV eight times before the victim turned on to Paul Cantrell Boulevard.

Investigators say when the victim swerved his SUV in an attempt to avoid another hit by Nathaniel's car, the victim's SUV hit another vehicle.

A police report states Nathaniel and the victim continued on Paul Cantrell Boulevard where Nathaniel struck the victim's SUV causing the vehicle to stop in the median.

The victim told police that Nathaniel was upset with him after learning of a relationship he was having with another woman.

An incident report states, Nathaniel had her 4-week-old daughter in a child safety seat in the back seat of her car during the incident. Police officials say the girl and the child-safety seat were not secured to the back seat with a seatbelt.

According to officers, Nathaniel's 3-year-old son was in the front passenger seat without a child safety seat.
