Victim identified in fatal St. George motorcycle wreck

ST. GEORGE, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester County Coroners Office has identified the victim involved in a fatal motorcycle accident late Wednesday night just moments away from his home.

Officials say 58-year-old James Bernard Hancock of St. George died at the scene after wrecking his motorcycle along Highway 15 around 10:50 p.m.

Dorchester County coroner Christopher Nisbet says Hancock was approximately 200 yards from his home when he lost control of his motorcycle and ran off the road, hitting a drainage pipe.

Nisbet says Hancock was not wearing a helmet, and speed was a factor. Hancock died of a head injury, multiple facial fractures and cervical fracture.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
