GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators have arrested a Goose Creek High School employee accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16.

Arthur Prioleau was arrested on Wednesday and charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Berkeley County School District officials say Prioleau, who works as an In School Suspension assistant at Goose Creek High, has been placed on administrative leave.

According to the Hanahan Police Department, on July 22 at 12:30 p.m., an officer was flagged down on Campbell Street near Yeamans Hall Road in reference to a possible lewd act upon a child.

The father of the victim said at 12:34 a.m. that day, his daughter called him and was crying, telling him that Prioleau had touched her multiple times inappropriately at a home on Kinglet Lane.

A police report states Prioleau told the victim not to tell his wife that he had touched her.

Investigators say the victim was not a student at Goose Creek high.

Prioleau's bond was set at $50,000.

The Berkeley County School District released the following statement Thursday afternoon regarding Prioleau's arrest:

Berkeley County School District holds our employees to the highest level of professional excellence.

As soon as the district learned of the charge and alleged incidents and in compliance with District policy, the employee was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
