BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Emergency crews say they have put out the bulk of a townhouse fire in Wando which may have started after lightning struck the building Monday night.

Charleston Fire Department officials say crews from the CFD, North Charleston and Awendaw responded to a reported structure fire at 1201 Circle Oaks Drive at 9:24 p.m.

Authorities say the 911 caller reported a possible lighting strike before the fire started.

Arriving units reported heavy fire at or near the roof of the structure.

CFD Battalion Chief Mike Julazadeh said the bulk of the fire was extinguished by 10:01 p.m., and units are still working through hot spots, and opening areas of the structure to expose hidden fire.

No injuries have been reported.

Julazadeh said an investigation into the cause of the fire will be started.
