MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

The South Carolina Department of Revenue says investigators have arrested a 52-year-old man accused of operating a Mt. Pleasant business without a retail sales tax license.

Authorities arrested Daniel Burriss on Tuesday. SCDOR officials say Burriss is the owner of Cliff's Home Center in Mt. Pleasant, and in February of 2013, DOR revoked his business' retail license.

DOR officials say they later issued two violations, in March and in July of this year, to Cliff's Home Center for continuing to operate and conduct sales without a retail license.

Burriss could face up to $200 in fines and/or up to 30 days in jail if convicted of the charge.

He is currently locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center.
