Clemson Ranked Fourth by AP and Fifth by USA Today

Clemson is ranked fourth by Associated Press and fifth by USA Today Coaches poll this week.  It is the highest ranking for the Clemson program by Associated Press since September 12, 1988 when the Tigers were ranked third by AP.              

The Tigers also received a first-place vote this week by the Associated Press, the first time Clemson has had a first-place vote since the preseason poll of 1991.  It is the first time Clemson has received a first place vote after the season has started since 1988 when Clemson had three in the September 12, 1988 poll.            

Overall it is the 31st consecutive poll that Clemson has been ranked in the top 25 of both polls, something only five other schools can claim.            

This week is the 22nd time in history Clemson has had a top five national ranking by Associated Press, the 91st time the Tigers have been ranked in the top 10.  Overall, Clemson has been ranked in 344 of the 1056 Associated Press polls in history.            

Clemson made the jump from eighth in the preseason AP poll to fourth after defeating fifth-ranked Georgia, 38-35 on August 31. It tied for the fifth highest ranked team Clemson has beaten in its history.
