CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A James Island man is behind bars after authorities say he has been harassing his ex-girlfriend since they separated, recently calling and texting her over 70 times after she tried to break off contact.
Tristian Cheek was arrested Monday and charged with felony stalking. He is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
According to an incident report, the suspect began stalking his ex-girlfriend after the two broke up at the end of January of this year.
The victim told police Cheek would show up at her home uninvited, as well as at places she would go.
Police say the victim called authorities on August 23, claiming Cheek called and texted her over 70 times after she told him to not call her anymore.
Although the harassment has been going on since the break-up, the report states the victim waited to file a report because she did not want Cheek to get angry and she was afraid of what he might do.
