Thief breaks into a dozen cars in Summerville neighborhood

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are on the lookout for a thief who broke into a dozen cars at a Summerville neighborhood Monday night.

On Tuesday morning, the Summerville Police Department responded to six homes on Savannah River Drive and one home on Seneca River Drive at the Lakes of Summerville for reports of auto-break ins. 

Police officers say eight of the twelve cars were left unlocked.

According to police, the only thing taken was a GPS device from a Jeep on Savannah River Drive. Several residents reported that someone had entered their vehicles and rummaged through their items.

In one of the incidents, a police officer who was investigating the break-ins discovered three vehicles at a home that had been tampered with on Savannah River Drive.
